A hash (#) followed by the word is called the hashtag (#tag). Hash tag is commonly used in Twitter to tell people what we are tweeting about. And it is also helpful in tracking all tweets of a particular subject. For example, if you are tweeting about India, add a hashtag "#India" in your tweet. So if anybody clicks on #India, they'll get all tweets with the hashtag India including your tweet.
Now I've created a twitter account called @hashKannada. It retweets all the tweets with the hashtag Kannada (#Kannada) on twitter. It helps to track the tweets in/about Kannada. So if you want to see Kannada tweets or tweets with #Kannada, you can follow @hashKannada on Twitter!
Thank you.
